time for your new responsibility sheet

5/24/2017

Please get your end of terms responsibility sheet. See link

You need to fill this out everyday to say what you accomplished and get it stamped at the end of the period.

You need to hold on to it. A completed sheet is part of your final exam.

HOWEVER please note the following changes.

finals for periods 1 & 2 or on Tuesday June 6
finals for periods 3 & 4 are on Wednesday June 7
finals for periods 5 & 6 are on Thursday June 8 -- please make a changed on your sheets.

Also please note - as of tomorrow ALL over due projects will have a zero in the grade book. If you have something already out of the kiln and finished and not graded by Friday you will lose 50% credit.

Counting down

5/22/2017

Make a plan to finish - also DO NOT let your projects dry out!

SIX days of wet clay for Seniors - have until Wednesday May 31

Underclassmen have until friday June 2

Starting Wednesday  you will be using this tracking sheet

thinking about the summer? see this link

first glaze out since the disaster!

5/19/2017

Get your projects graded right away -- do not delay otherwise you may loose points.

Make sure you have blogged your progress if you have a website and made paperwork if you are a beginner both on your progress scale as well as individual pink sheets.

pick up your paper clay projects today or they might get disposed of.

District art show is May 31 - looking for great projects. show off your best. Not required. BUT looking for about 20 great projects.

paper clay out, glaze kiln to run -- new jobs

5/17/2017

Please make sure you pick up you papers TODAY -- you will need them for you end of semester packet.

Paper clay is out of the kiln today - although it is already graded make sure you pick it up. Also make sure you take home any old projects. Remember the lockers have physically moved so check to find your locker's new location.

A glaze kiln can run tonight HOWEVER -- there are few kiln shelves to mess up SO make sure the base of your project and 1/3" from the base is totally glaze free and your name is on the base or it WILL NOT BE FIRED.

Remember last day of wet clay for seniors is May 31. Plan your time.

update

5/16/2017

the working area of the room for using wet clay should be functional by sometime today (Tuesday May 16)

the small electric kiln should be back on line with in a week.
In the mean time we can take some things to Freshman campus to fire, but need to organize that.

the glaze room will probably be closed and off limits until the end of the school year. Projects are coming out of the large electric kiln so we can account for those projects.

Students need to find any project they have in the room and take possession of it. Then they need to document the projects on webistes and pink sheets so they can get in the grade book.

Although many of the Franken pots are trapped in a kiln right now you can get credit for them if you write your paragraph on the pink sheet and have it on your grading blog.

Students need to make in wet clay the projects that are due -  Remember at least one project was replaced by the paper clay.

this means that unlike in the past - projects will be graded as they are done in green-ware. So the scale will be changed to not count the glaze portion of the grade.

Although we will endeavor to get everything fired and glazed we will not necessarily be able to do it before the time needed to grade them.

upcoming expectations as we finish the year back in our room!!

5/12/2017

At the end of this period we will turn in our pink sheets (or have working blogs ON LINE NOW) for
 - origami
 - first paper clay project
 - second more finished project. see rubric here for your write up

ALSO make sure you have your progress scale out on your desk for me to check and see where you've gotten to - This can affect how your grade is calculated at the end of the term and  needs to account for what we can find when we get back into the room that was ungraded or unfinished .

We should be back in the room on Monday and back to business as usual - electric kilns should function.    :)
but
we are on testing schedule so we will have to use our time mindfully.

We missed 8 days of school - so you will exchange the work we did this week for one project otherwise due. Example it can replace the lidded project. **

However you will still need to do the others in the time we have.

We have 3 weeks of wet clay left - and a disrupted testing schedule. Take advantage of the longer periods to get more projects finished.

Presentations for ALL will be on June 6,7 & 8 following the senior exam schedule. We will suspend doing the yellow sheets for the rest of the term - HOWEVER - during the final two weeks you will get an accountability sheet to record how you spend your class periods.

In the last week of school underclassman will be making tiles for the new school - yes, this will be a required part of your graded work (if you are not graduating.)

**any unrecorded work will not be excused if it is not found when we get back to the room - some assignment requirements will be made on an individual basis depending on where you were on that fateful Wednesday - but I think, if you were on target and on task that all projects, save the last one, can get done. We had introduced all the projects up to the planter before the fires - thus if you were on track you should have been there.
**
The points we earned this week are not replaceable with another project and cannot be made up if you were in class. Nor can you get extra credit if you have not fulfilled the basic assignments first. basic requirements will be bowl one, two, Franken pot, cup, vase, planter and choice.
for intermediate  and advanced can skip one assignment that was due after 5/12.
SEE me if you feel you have specific concerns.
