How to write a paragraph

1
Name the object by title of the assignment – i.e. drawing with squares or line design
& Describe
what does the image look like? (what is subject matter or motif)
What is the media? (pencil, watercolor...)

2
name at least one new skill that was
used in order to make the project (do not narrative everything you did to make it – just the new skill you learned for
this assignment.) -
how did you use the new skills to get better results?

 3
name the main art elements  - talk about the art elements in individual parts of the art work
Name the main Design elements - how do the skills and art elements create a design element to make the composition
What are the most compelling parts (art elements) of your project or image and how do these parts work together in the composition (design elements)

4 In order to express your idea (this is your CM) show how the skills and art element express an idea, feeling or mood.

*WARNING* DO NOT USE SIMILIES – i.e. – it’s blue so it reminds me of the ocean.  Or it looks like a stary night.  Describe the details of the image and let the viewer draw their own conclusions.

your paragraph shuold be

CD’s
     – what – describe the
     project

      – how –
skills and art elements & design elements

Cm
why is it important? – What possible meaning does it express? What does it say about you?

Sample

This is a (name assignment and describe)  a wheel thrown cylinder.

** Describe the project, form, surface and then color.
It is 5" tall and 3" wide with a smooth surface. It has a small foot ring, it is thinner at the lip than the foot. The cylinder is gazed white with a blue lip - the blue drips down the side in some place.

** What new skill did you use - remember to support your statement with an example.

I was able to pull a taller wall by making sure my thumbs were locked and I was pressing a little harder with my outside fingers.

** It uses this art element to make this design element, remember sometimes the elements can be used as verbs...

The lines of the drips make the cylinder look taller by emphasizing the height.

**C.M should be short and to the point, it is not how you felt about making it.
The blue and white make it look elegant.

This is a
(name assignment and describe)  a watercolor painting of apples on paper.
** describe the image - what is in it, what colors are they - are they natural or abstract - what does the viewer see?
In the picture you can see three apples, one green, one red and one yellow. there are shadows on a flat table. The background is beige and the apples take up most of the image.

** what new skill did you use - remember to support your statement with an example.

It Because I started with light colors and left some of the paper white until the end, I was able to make bright white highlights.

**It uses this art element to make this design element, remember sometimes the elements can be used as verbs...

I also used complementary colors in the shadows, for instance blue shadows by the yellow apple, and that gave it sense of contrast that created an illusion of light.

**C.M should be short and to the point, it is not how you felt about making it.

The simple image appears natural.
