In this room we will enter and leave our other lives behind to be safe here to make art. We respect and take pride in our work, our space and how we work with each other.
Please think about how you enter the art room - quietly - leaving the rest of your day behind. This is a place we need to find focus and peace to be creative. Working on our art, throwing on the wheel, demands full attention in the same way that playing a sport might - not paying attention we will be in danger of a curve ball!
This means conversations will be focused on art - not other aspects of your life - leave that at the door and pick it up as you leave. This is a sanctuary for creation.
To achieve this we will work together purposefully to accomplish group tasks.
The first five to fifteen minutes will be for discussion, news and the lesson or demo - I expect your respectful attention at this time - the next time is work time, and the last ten minutes or even fifteen depending on your needs will be clean up. It is very important that we clean mindfully knowing that the next class will be using the same tools and material and wheels ....
As we leave we will take the time to clean up, re-order the room and our things and get ready to step back into the rest of our day!
We will wait at our clean work space and not by the door!
