What do I have to do to the edges of my slab projects so they join well?

When do I need to put on clear glaze?

Bisque is running, glaze should be out. Make sure to grade your project when it comes out of the kiln.

bisque out today.

9/29/2014

what are the four ways I can design a project?

hint - form, surface, negative space and edge

Everyone should have two projects in the grade book by this Friday. Three by Oct 10th and four by oct 17th

design elements

9/26/2014

list your first three projects and put the main design element you are using for each of them.

then turn in your paper. Make sure you got your log from last week.

you should have at least the first project in the grade book by now, if not could be a zero going in.

questions ... ??

9/25/2014

what are the art and design elements?

How do we use them?

What is composition?

thinking about slabs

9/24/2014

what are two reasons one needs to roll clay with a rolling pin after it has been through the slab roller? Which direction do you need to push the rolling pin? Why do you need two pieces of paper to work a slab with?

moving from coils to slabs

9/23/2014

What is a soft slab and how can we make a project using a slab?

How many ways are there to make a hand project? What are they?  *pinch, coils, soft and firm slabs*

*Advanced make sure you have posted your finished art in the grading blog*

Turn in your work!

9/22/2014

check to see if your project is out of the kiln. make sure you turn it in the day it comes out!! If it is not out, where is it?

How do we grade our projects?

Make sure it is done as soon as possible.

due dates

9/19/2014

get stuff in the kiln?

How do we turn stuff in?
Pinch pot due NOW * remember you have a two week window before it's late and you loose credit

Coil pot due next Friday

    Assembly    11:45 – 12:18

looking at what I've done so far ...

9/18/2014

Judging by how your pinch project looks out of the bisque (or someone else's) what could you differently on your coil pot?

What does it mean to be finished in wet clay? How can you 'finish' your project in the leather hard state?

Are you ready for your soft slab?

directions are on - letsmakeart.weebly.com - search soft slab cup

Bisque ware is out!

9/17/2014

what do I do when my stuff comes out of the bisque kiln?

How do I glaze a project?
