finishing pinch, starting coil ...

1/30/2015

How do we get something in the kiln to get bisque?

How many times does something get fired?

What happens if there is no hole in the project?

How do I make a coil pot?

To dry or not to dry ... Friday's eternal question

1/30/2015

How do we dry work so it doesn't crack?
Don't just leave hand projects (or any big project) out to dry - it can crack - let it dry slowly.

Generally - day one, open bag, day two in locker out of bag - then bisque shelf.

BUT you want to finish work when it's in a leather state so - how do you control that?

Note - we will mostly be starting a new project while you're still working on the previous one.

what do you need to do to turn something in?

note - sometimes work can be late - but after two weeks you will lose 25% -
after three weeks 50% - after four weeks - or near the end of the quarter you
can lose all credit.

Finishing the first project ...

how do I control drying so I can finish a project?

using tools to add details

1/28/2015

What are tools - how are they used?

slipping and scoring is a start - however you need to use a tool to really make sure your attachments hold.

All projects have FORM, SURFACE, and EDGE  - how do we use these to add detail to detail? Where do we start in a project?

Advanced/Intermediate - I need your website up by FRIDAY - see me or returning students to get help.
