second project in paper clay -- in paper clay the paper takes the place of the 'grog' or grainy parts of the clay. How does this change it?

Make a carefully finished project - it will be fired once with clear glaze -- here if we can -- or at FLC if necessary.

you can make a vessel (pot) or a lantern or ornament that hangs or a sculpture.  (I suggest you look on line for some inspiration... )

It needs to be at least 4" tall and 4" wide -- but not use more than a 2" block of clay.  (5 pts)

Thus it needs to include a lot of Negative space (empty space). The more negative space included the better. Think about trees and how they define a huge amount of space without much bulk. (5 pts)

It should also show detail on top of detail -- in other words the structure itself needs to be detailed but also the surface needs to reflect that detail. i.e. if you use coils, the coils need to be textured, sculptured or decorated in some way. remember you are not using color. (5 pts)

You have the opportunity to earn 25 project points this week that will replace the last project on your progress scale.

(*) remember - you should have a pink sheet or a working blog entry for the origami - for a paragraph you just need a description of what you made and who was on your team - put this in the box on the front -- "I made a whale with Peter Parker and Lois Lane. I learned to make a  dolphin from  Bruce Wayne."  _ that's worth 5 points.

You also need a pink sheet or working blog for the mini paper clay project with a simple description. -"Using the paper clay was -------. I made a -------. What was easy was -----. what was difficult was -------.
again, put this on the box on the front.

For the finished paper clay project you will need a finished pink sheet and working and grading blog entry. You will do this BEFORE it is fired --- JUST THIS ONCE.
