Art is something that changes people's view of the world. It works when we the artist can share a unique perspective.

You should be near the end of your pinch pot in wet clay. To finish it up you will need to leave it in an open bag until tomorrow then you can work on it to do the final carving, finishing as well as cutting the vent or the box lid. | ** If you did not do the questionnaire from the first day then make sure you do. |
Please write down who is on your team and what your job is.
your team will be responsible for cleaning up a certian area each day. This does not mean others will not clean up after themselves!!! it means your team will go in and make sure the job is done!
Your team will also make at least two group projects. The first starts in a few days! You will be making a group coil project. It needs to be a gift for a specific person and it needs to serve a specific purpose. Start thinking!
Look up the rubrics and scales and find out!
Pinch pots -
1. size, following assignment - should be made with pinch technique - at least 4"x3" after it's fired.
2. skills - the joins need to hold together and the object needs to be of uniform thickness
3. sculptural detail (using art/design elements) - needs to have 3D forms on ALL sides - use both carving as well as attaching clay to create sculpture - think about bas relief
4. glazing - more on this late
5. unity of purpose/meaning
intermediate & Advanced find the scale or rubric for the cylinder and bowl.
First bisque will be this week. First projects are due Sept. 15
If you want to work on your project on Monday (or in this case Tuesday) - wrap it up on Friday!!!!
New students - you should be starting your pinch project - list on you project sheet what you plan for it to be. What skills will you need to add clay? What is slipping and scoring and how does it work?
Intermediate - is your website up? Make sure you are taking pictures of your five starts - or any projects that are keep-able as you make them for you working blog. use your pink sheet, but think about how to transfer info onto your working blog. You can blog with your phone, an iPad or a chrome book.
advanced - see above - how will you make all your bowls the same size? ( measure the amount of clay you use! Use a 2" square block)
