What does the rubric represent?

We use a rubric to evaluate work - however, what really does the rubric represent?

"Skill- set" - techniques, ideas, art elements, ect that you need to learn for the unit/project.

NOTE - when do we turn in the work log?

We meet again on Tuesday - so use the back of your work log for Tuesday and turn it in then! :)

On the back of your work log - make a color wheel chart showing the primary and secondary colors.

all primary colors have what kind of colors as compliments?

+++ Grades have been updated? Turning in something late? Let me know when it's posted so I can update. ++++

changing your drawing into a painting

Question for work LOG
- what is the main art element in your self portrait?
-What is the main design element? (i.e. the composition)

By now you should have a self portrait drawing
the proportions needs to be correct
it should have both outlines and contour lines

(Also you need to make sure your macro still life painting is on the wall or bulletin board TODAY)

Now - make sure today you have a photo of your drawing on your working blog.

Now you need to make a self portrait painting. The best idea would be to start with a new piece of paper and a new drawing, however you may paint over your existing drawing.

Make sure you use your favorite color and it's complement in the painting.

today's question for your work-log -

name your favorite color and it's compliment!

make sure your macro painting is on on your grading blog with a paragraph by today - and be ready to put it on the wall, if you have not done so already.

If that is done, then work on your self portrait.

using your ipad to draw a face

why is drawing an edge different than drawing a surface?
(please answer on your work Log - discuss at your table)

Today - take a "selfie" looking straight at the iPad camera.
transfer it to sketch x
make a second layer
draw your face making sure your draw around the contours of your face as well as outlining your features. see yesterday's post for a link to the assignment. note - I want to emphasis contour lines which is not shown in the examples

save both to your working blog.

Now see if you can sketch the drawing on a piece of 9"x 12" white paper and paint it with tempera paint.

note - root canal tomorrow so not here. :(
You can work on this or finish your macro still life on Monday. We will be working on this portrait for a few days at least.

Finishing macro and moving on ...

why is a still life painting different than a portrait?

things to consider
art elements  (like color)
design elements  (like composition)
motifs
over all expressions

IA folks - when you are done with your painting - try to do a super macro nature painting - see Georgia O'keefe - use Scale to transform a photo of a close up of a plant into an abstract image that provokes a particular mood or feeling.
