start on your portraits

11/25/2013

photo should be up on your blog.
Start and finish your sketch today.
Next we will
be doing the finished drawing in black and white chalk on charcoal paper.

Things to keep in mind for this project-
Are the proportions correct - are features in the right place on the head and is the head the correct shape?

Are the features the correct size in relation to each other?
have your drawn around the surface?
Are the highlights in the right place?
Have you used dark, medium & light to create form and hair texture.

what should be on my blog?

11/21/2013

First post - Parliament after Monet - this should have happened around Nov 4th.

Next - photos of the landscape you mean to draw with drawings of them. Should be in order so we can see the photo and the drawing each in successive posts. Posts of progress along the way is encouraged.
At the end, pick one drawing to write about - on a new post write the summative paragraph and put up the rubric. this is the end of that unit. this should have taken place before Nov 15.

Next we have the skull, face measurement & guided face generic face drawing. You need to post them - remember posts are dated as to when you do them and should be in order. This should be done no later than today, Nov. 21
Next you need to post a formative paragraph saying what you learned about the proportions in a head. since this is not the finished product from this unit, we will not be writing a summative paragraph.
The finished drawing from this unit will be the portrait you do. You should first do a sketch in pencil, and then use black and white chalk to do the final version on pastel paper. This will be done no later than Dec 3 - the Tuesday after break.

wednesday - visit from Microsoft folks tomorrow!

11/20/2013

Then - finish drawings and do write up

What did I learn about the
proportions of a human head?

  Talk about the
relative size of length to width, size of the front of the head versus the side.
How many parts to the skull? What are the positions on the face of the – eyes,
nose, mouth & ears. Where is the neck? What is the shape of an average eye?
How do you make an eyeball look glassy?

Friday & Monday - time to finish up and blog

11/15/2013

Today - finish your skull and engineered face drawing.
Blog them and comment on your blog, in a paragraph about -
 I did ... (drawing, measuring...)
I learned ... about the structure of a skull and how it affects how a human face appears in a drawing.

Monday
- we go to self-portraits.
When you are done take a picture of you face that you can draw - put it on your
website - erase all photos of you from the 'camera roll' of the
iPad.

Start by doing some rough draft drawings getting the proportions - put the features in the right places - eyes in the middle of the head.

draw your face like an engineer!

11/14/2013

working with a partner and using a ruler measure the dimensions of your head and make a front and side view.
Problem _
using your skull drawings from yesterday - of the front and side of a head - make a similar diagrammatic drawing of your face -decide what measurement you need to make - The more measurements the better. You will end with a diagram of a face.

11/13/2013

know where the skull is and you can draw a face on a head.

Landscapes! Websites!

11/7/2013

Using the same techniques you did for the Monet pictures create your own impressionist landscapes. Remember use complementary colors! Notice the values - dark should be dark and lights - light.
Both will be due by Friday.
Also your website with blog and entries including your photos will be also due by Friday

get your landscapes on your site and do the drawings!
