Nōtan (濃淡?) is a Japanese design concept involving the play and placement of light and dark as they are placed next to the other in art and imagery.

assignment using a square for each, make three different notan designs - each must have two of the following  elements
figurative or non-figurative
symmetrical or asymmetrical
linear edges or curves
narrative or non-narrative

all must have both large, medium and small shapes
how is the outside piece orientated to the one inside - is it the same or flipped?
