Friday - I am out... :(

1/30/2014

Keep working on your Notans - if you have done three by now - make one that is a lot more intricate and different than the other three. See if you can move as much of the black square out into the white space.

Notan development...

1/30/2014

Make sure you post each of the three Notan designs on your working blog and why they are different. Yes, we have some time to work on this.

Thanks for working through the glitches with weebly and iPads!

hint - why not use google images on your iPad to look at other Notan designs? :)

I will be checking today to see if I can find all your sites!

Notans contine

1/29/2014

Find your new seat. See paper on desk - please move your work.

Note - your tray should have no more than 2 glue sticks, three scissors, pencils and one eraser. Take care of your materials.

Again, follow directions here

make sure your design get more and more complex.

Last day ---- self evaluation

1/24/2014

Make sure you have pictures and summative paragraphs on all your projects.

On today's blog ---

Please write a paragraph abuot your progress in art class.
Describe your effort.
What was your biggest success?
What surprised you?

Describe your favorite project and say what new skills you used and what new art elements you learned. How did that affect your finished project?

How do you hope to use your new skills in the future?

Will you be taking more art at MSHS?

A word about final grades ...

1/23/2014

First thing - anyone who is in danger of getting below a C I have spoken with.

Your blogs clearly show your progress. We have used self evaluations all through the semester

Think about what grade you have earned...

A students are on task over 90% percent of the period - that -'s only 5 minutes total spent out of your seat, in conversation about non-art topics....

Tuesday - last day to work on wet/damp clay!!!! & moving on the glazing and ipad drawings

1/14/2014

coming up -

* finish all clay projects and glaze. I will be running kilns.
things that are ready to fire need to be put on the ready to fire shelf - on the bottom right beside the kilns.

*Make sure you have been following directions on blogging.
It is a good idea to have before and after firing photos of all projects.
You need a formative - what have I learned - paragraph under the wet clay picture of the cup or pinch project (see my blog dated 1/8) and box - see blog entry immediately underneath this one.)

+ Each finished ceramic project, pinch, cup and box, will need a photo and summative paragraph about it. See directions on how to write a ceramics paragraph on the rubrics tab.

*iPad drawings - see  letsmakeart.weebly.com
the first drawing will be an experimental drawing of your own. HINT _ always draw/paint with less than 50% opacity for best results build images in layers. The next one will be the disney spooky trees - again see letsmakeart.weebly.com for information.

Friday - finish up wet clay projects.

1/9/2014

apologies for my absence.

will be back on Monday (actually Tuesday) so we can glaze and start the iPad drawings. In the meantime -

finish your box, make sure your blog is up today and include a formative paragraph - this means write about what you have learned so far - this should be personal and not formal - what you learned may be different than someone else  - dated today, describing the clay building methods you have used thus far.
this should be under a photo of the firm slab box in wet or greenware clay.

see - www.letsmakeart.weebly.com - under the ceramics tab for how to glaze - ideas.

blogging about your progress

1/8/2014

Post picture(s) of your bisque piece.
In writing - describe how it came out. Did it stay intact? Did it break or explode? What did you do correctly or incorrectly to get good results?

Post some pictures of your box in progress and describe what new techniques you used to make sure the parts stuck together. Describe your plans for the box.
-What was easy to understand?
- What was difficult?

I will be grading this today and not accepting late work.
