Please finish your cut-out tessellation today and write paragraph.

Make sure you find your Notan cut-out as well as your radiating line drawing to take home.

Today, find and finish, if necessary, your graph paper tessellation - put your name on the back and period, please. Also suggest what grade you think you should receive out of 15 points.

If extra time do a 'free-drawing'.

Tomorrow we will start one-point perspective.

Once you have the basic four blocks, start to change things - flip the colors around - or even cut new pieces out of the existing pieces and flip or rotate them.

Try cutting out a figurative shape in some of them - or any shape.

Outline the shapes in colored pencil, but do the lines in regular pencil.

rubric - you will be graded on
or as a learning target -

I will be able to draw straight lines that center to one point in each box and line up on the edge with the center of the adjacent shape.

I will use dark and light lines to imply what is closer and what is farther away - imply space and form with value of the line.

I will use value, spacing and direction of lines as well as overall design to create a sense of movement.

I will use a variety of shapes to add interest to the composition and also show relative size of the implied forms.

Take ten minutes to make sure your best Notan cut-out is complete. if it is - write the paragraph right away and finish your drawing afterwards. Monday we move on!

Next we will be writing a paragraph on it. You can find the directions under the file cabinet, but I'll put it here.

Please finish the paragraph about your design and turn it in with the art work.

& Describe
what does the image look like? (what is subject matter or motif)
What is the media? (pencil, watercolor...)

used in order to make the project (do not narrative everything you did to make it – just the new skill you learned for

name the main art elements - talk about the composition as well as art elements in individual parts of the composition

for your CM show how the skills and art element express an idea, feeling or mood.

WARNING DO NOT USE SIMILIES – i.e. – it’s blue so it reminds me of the ocean. Or it looks like a stary night.  Describe the details of the image and let the viewer draw their own conclusions.
