Finish drawing and get ready for face in color!

11/26/2013

Today -
Should finish up pencil  portrait drawing of  you or someone you know - remember the photo should be on blog -  and then blog your drawing along with the photo and  write a summative paragraph before you go on to the color painting of the same face. see tutorial here.

Look at the following criteria and make changes as necessary -
Are the proportions correct - are features in the right place on the head and is the head the correct shape?
Are the features the correct size in relation to each other?
have your drawn around the surface?
Are the highlights in the right place?
Have you used dark, medium & light values to create form and hair texture.

What should I have on my blog? What should I be doing now?

11/22/2013

First post - Parliament after Monet - this should have happened around Nov 4th.

Next - photos of the landscape you mean to draw with drawings of them. Should be in order so we can see the photo and the drawing each in successive posts. Posts of progress along the way is encouraged.
At the end, pick one drawing to write about - on a new post write the summative paragraph and put up the rubric. this is the end of that unit. this should have taken place before Nov 15.

Next we have the skull, face measurement & guided face generic face drawing. You need to post them - remember posts are dated as to when you do them and should be in order. This should be done no later than today, Nov. 21
Next you need to post a formative paragraph saying what you learned about the proportions in a head. since this is not the finished product from this unit, we will not be writing a summative paragraph.

The finished drawing from this unit will be the portrait you do. You should first do a sketch in pencil, and then use  chalk to do the final version on colored square paper. This will be done no later than Dec 3 - the Tuesday after break.

NOW -
You should have a photo of a face to draw - you need to have taken the photo or know who did. (No celebrities)
Start by doing some sketches - make sure you do the basic face diagram first before you draw the face.

Finish, write & blog with your team! - Wed & Thurs. Tomorrow have photo you are going to draw on your site!

11/20/2013

First - notice the tray on your table - reporter -please put one eraser and a variety of pencils in it for your team.

Then - finish drawings and do write up - and blog all three drawings - improve them as necessary. Make sure the rest of your blog is also up to date.

What did I learn about the proportions of a human head?

Talk about the relative size of length to width, size of the front of the head versus the side. How many parts to the skull? What are the positions on the face of the – eyes, nose, mouth & ears. Where is the neck? What is the shape of an average eye? How do you make an eyeball look glassy?

Guided face drawing

11/19/2013

Please turn in the drawing you did yesterday for credit. Hope you did well on your own. :)

Working, step by step, with the teacher, I can learn the correct proportions of a face.

You will need -
small white paper and pencil - nothing else - remember to draw very lightly.

tutorial here

Draw your face like an engineer! (I am out so do your best. Ipads will not be available.)

11/17/2013

I can work with my team and using a ruler measure the dimensions of my face and head to make a front and side view drawing.
Problem -
using your skull drawings from last week - of the front and side of a head - make a similar diagrammatic drawing of your face -decide what measurement you need to make - make them on a piece of scrap paper -the more measurements the better. Then do a drawing front and side on a large piece of white paper. You will end with a diagram of a face. Those of you who have done this in your engineering class can help others with the idea of an isometric diagram.

Your drawings will look something like these - only you will be drawing in your hair. You can use pictures of your self you take with your phone - the main ideas is to get your features in the right location.

Finish work, organize, take work home!

11/15/2013

Pack up your work to take home and take it home!

Make sure your site has all your recent work, your paragraph, & the grading rubric on the landscape project.

Make sure your skull drawing is on your site - but leave it here. We will be working with it next week.

Draw the skull

11/14/2013

Using a large piece of drawing paper draw both skulls so they line up - eye socket to eye socket a below...
Have one iPad for team so you can share the image and near the end record your progress.
Friday we will be finishing what isn't finished and taking home art that isn't put up so be prepared for that.

Work problem - what are the proportions in a face?

11/13/2013

Today - finish your websites and project in the first twenty minutes. If you are already done make sure you have met all the requirements of the rubrics and that your website is up to date. Look at your team's sites and see if you can make a comment or help them with something.

NO PERSONAL PICS ON IPADS - if you are using the ipad incorrectly you will be getting a zero for this project and also loose Ipad privileges
SECRET NOTICE - extra credit possibilities - make a new page on your web site about your art or art observations!

Loved your self-evaluations. I will be keeping them until near the end of the semester when we will use them in our end of semester reflection.

Make sure you have posted your weebly with the two landscapes on it -
on an art blog

I will be grading from this for this assignment.Due no later than tomorrow.
Make sure I have your URL.

Today -

You should have your landscape pictures on your weebly - if not, we can use the Ipads to get one of morning light for today.

Using the same techniques you did for the Monet pictures create your own impressionist landscapes - with complimentary colors!
