Your packet is due on Thursday. Please refer to Friday's blog for instruction.
I will be giving you a packet to turn in by next Thursday.
To start a drawing in one point perspective of the hall, the first thing I need to do is find the back wall. How will I find the vanishing point?
How do I know I am looking at a scene in one point perspective? |
checking in what should be on your blog. | ----> |
By now all of you have done some really wonderful things in your drawings.
Name one skill, idea, techniques, or 'happy accident' in one of your drawings that you think really works well.
(write on your yellow sheet in a sentence --- something like --- in my drawing of --------- i really liked --------- because--------)
Where is the viewer standing in relation to the picture plane in your image? how high off the floor are they and are they to the right or the left?
Will there be anything on or near the picture plane? Will anything break the picture plane?
let's discuss the drawing below
In this image the viewer would have to be on a ladder looking down into the room to get the vanishing point so high. the vanishing point is above the headboard of the bed. So the viewer is high up and in the very center of the room.
The small cabinet at the right is right against the picture plane where as the easy chair on the right breaks through the picture plane and leaves the rectangle of the image. But again we would have to be high above the chair to look down on it like that.

look at the rubric and list - what are the criteria for a completed good drawing? (level 1 question - find the answer from a document)
rubric here
visually, unless you are in a VERY long palatial room -
all objects in the room cross the line where the floor meets the back wall. If something is in the front of the drawing is is VERY close and should be BIG.
LEVEL 2 Question -
How will the viewer find their way around my room? what will I do in my drawing?
Today, after we talk and you've worked on your sketch. Look at some images on the internet and plan your big drawing. We have today and tomorrow to work on it.
needs to be a room in one point perspective. rubric here
to do a drawing in one point perspective --
the view must be directly facing one wall - determine where the viewer is - standing, sitting or lying down -- and find the vanishing point.
all lines must be parallel to the floor, the walls or go to the vanishing point.
today, we will draw a basic room together and follow the tutorial.

this drawing will go on your working blog. Use newsprint for your first drawing.
Next we will use white paper to make a finished drawing of a room, then we will draw the hallway.
also watch the video for some ideas.
